GoBank
Project Overview
For this project, I was hired as a UX Designer for GoBank to create a mobile app for customers who want to apply for a loan. I had to create the online credit application interface for GoBank’s new mobile app which uses Google’s Material Design System.
Given that I have a background in banking and I “nerd out” for this topic, I was pretty excited about this project !
Paper Application
GoBank currently has customers fill out the paper credit application below.
During the brainstorming phase I made a list of the most important fields of the application to cut out all the “fluff” and see if there was a more user friendly way to organize the info.
Competitor Analysis
I completed a competitor analysis of GoBank’s main competitors. I did this to gain a better understanding of how they organized their credit applications. I specifically looked at their bottom navigation, page layout, homepage, and buttons & icons.
Sketches and Mid-Fi Prototype
After completing my research, I created sketched wireframes and then created a mid-fi prototype of GoBank’s app.
I then created a style guide and components. I wanted to ensure that the colors fit the brand of GoBank. The color blue represents loyalty, freedom, and intelligence while purple means personal power and virtue.
Style Guide & Components
Since I had to create branding for GoBank from scratch, this also included creating a logo. One important element I wanted to include in the logo was some sort of forward movement. I had quite a few ideas and iterations for it and finally found one I really liked.
Feedback I received for this first iteration included the following:
Place a “$” in all money related text fields
Bottom navigation should be fixed when scrolling
Include a “Back Button” and “Save & Exit” option
Make State text field into a drop down option
“+ Add Debt” should be made into a button
Iteration #1
High Fidelity Prototype
I implemented the feedback I received and created the high fidelity prototype . Please feel free to click through the prototype.
Next Steps
For the scope of this assignment I had to only build out the credit application portion of the vehicle loan process. For future iterations, I’d like to build out the following areas:
Loan application for all bank loans
My Accounts
Transfer Money
Manage Money
